Green tea! For years we have heard how important green tea is to improve one’s health! We know it prevents certain kinds of cancer and it improves brain function. We also know how it burns fat. Now other vastly important additional information is coming to light regarding green tea! Research is showing that green tea is important in fighting Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s Disease!

In 2007 scientists learned that drinking green tea helped Parkinson patients. Research showed that the polyphenols in green tea protected the dopamine producing cells in the brain. The more green tea a person drank, the more dopamine could be produced.

Green tea is equally effective in helping Alzheimer patients. A component of green tea is called L-theanine and it, along with caffeine, helps improve memory and brain function. There are several other ways that green tea aids Alzheimer’s patients also. In fact, everyone of us, whether we have Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s, should make a concentrated effort to drink green tea because it is so good for us!

A frequently asked question is “Can we put sugar and milk in green tea?” The answer is simple. Nutritionists stress that it is better to drink green tea plain without adding other components to it. If you add anything it is better to add a little bit of honey but once again drinking it plain is still preferable!

It can not be stated too strongly how beneficial it is for Parkinson and Alzheimer patients to drink green tea every day.

Let’s all make a concentrated effort to drink more green tea! Here’s to you! I am starting to drink a cup a day and I hope to get up to 3 cups of green tea a day. I shall let you know how I feel after drinking 3 cups a day for several weeks!

Until next time, I remain your loving friend Hope
