Sleep, Blessed Sleep!
When I was in the act of being born, I stopped moving. My parents were terrified that I had died and Mother’s obstetrician was getting a little worried himself but I eventually decided to start moving and get out of there! I had evidently gone to sleep and taken a nap on my way to discovering America! According to Mother’s physician, that was a fairly common thing for babies to do! I don’t know if today’s OBGYNs think babies fall asleep in the birth canal, but I know I have continued the tradition of taking copious naps the rest of my life.
Sleep as we all know is incredibly important for the human body and mind. Sleep causes our minds to focus and think better. Sleep deprivation is actually more dangerous than not having enough food to eat. We must have adequate sleep which for most people is at least seven hours a night. We actually sleep about 1/3 of our lives.
Although I have no trouble falling asleep in the daytime (I can even sleep sitting up!), I have a terrible time falling asleep at night. Four days ago I decided to do some research on how to fall asleep quickly. I found an article on the Internet that I found very helpful. It outlined how the United States Navy trains its pilots to fall asleep quickly. It has several steps but the article states that if you just do the last step you will fall asleep in a few seconds. What is the last step? You say over and over “Stop thinking. Stop thinking.” After you have said those miraculous words about six times, you should be asleep.
I tried the Navy’s instructions. It worked. I fell asleep and slept about four hours. I awakened and tried it again and slept until it was time to get up. Last night I had the same results. I have had 2 good nights of sleep thanks to the Navy’s instructions.
I highly recommend this approach! Try it. I think you will like it!
Love from your friend Hope and SHIP AHOY!!!
I can certainly use help getting to sleep. Help my friend.
If I can stay awake I will try this. Martha
