Good Morning Friends!
Well, as we all know it is almost New Year’s Day! I don’t know about each of you but I like to make New Year’s Resolutions this time of year!
Where did the custom of making resolutions at the first of a new year begin? I didn’t know so I looked it up on the Internet and found the answer. The custom began in ancient Babylon four thousand years ago! The ancient Babylonians believed if they made resolutions and kept the resolutions their pagan deities would be pleased with them and assure their prosperity for the coming year! If they did not keep their resolutions, they would be in disfavor!
Well, there are no longer any ancient Babylonians running around but resolutions seem to be here to stay! Millions of people make resolutions every year. Unfortunately most of them are not kept! Psychologists tell us that if we want to keep our resolutions, we need to make them more realistic. We shouldn’t resolve to lose a large amount of weight, for instance. It would be more sensible–and doable– if we resolved to start slowly eating healthier and lose a moderate amount of weight until our ultimate goal has been reached! In other divide up our resolutions into small goals and attain small objectives until our big goals have been accomplished.
What are your resolutions for 2022? I hope one of your goals will be to read this blog spot often. My goal is to do a better job of keeping it current and up to date. Together we can accomplish a lot and together we can all pursue the lofty goal of living a more joyful and happy life!
God bless you and Happy New Year!!!!
