Dear Readers,
Today’s blog post is very special to me. You may have noticed I haven’t published any new blogs in the last few days. There is a reason for that hiatus. I have been ill and I might not have lived but the Dear Lord blessed me and I lived! What was wrong? Was it Covid-19? No, it was PEANUTS!!!! I am one of the people in this world who is horrendously allergic to peanuts. The first time I ingested peanuts I was a baby eating a peanut cookie my mother had made. I became horrendously sick. My parents called my doctor and he came to the house. He examined me and told my parents I was allergic to one of the ingredients in the cookie. There were several ingredients in the cookie that could have caused the attack. The most suspect was peanuts.
I got better and I was all right until the next time I accidentally ingested peanuts. Then we knew for sure what had caused my reaction. My parents heard of a new allergist in town, Dr. Manuel Brown. He was just out of the army and starting his practice in Oklahoma. My parents took me to Dr. Brown and he tested me. Sure enough, I was VERY ALLERGIC to peanuts. In fact, Dr. Brown said I was the second most allergic child he had ever tested! (Competitive as I was, I secretly wondered who was Number #1?) Dr. Brown told my parents even a little bit of one peanut could kill me!!
All my life I have been very careful not to get peanuts. This past week I got hold of a cookie that I thought was safe. I had eaten other cookies made at the same place and they were harmless oatmeal raisin cookies. Little did I know that the baker had changed his recipe and added peanut butter to the batter. This was the first batch of the new cookie and I got one of the first! Well, it was his first batch and it could have been my last cookie! Luckily I got help fast and I lived!!!!! I am extremely grateful to the Dear Lord for blessing me with healing! I am so grateful to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for bringing me out of this possible tragedy!
I have a new gratitude for living and a new sense of how precious life is and how we need to utilize every bit of life we can to serve and please the Lord!
I dedicate this blog, dear Friends, to using this space to promote joyful and happy living and service to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit!
Let’s all work together with renewed vigor and vitality to make our lives examples of happiness and service to Our Lord!
With love and gratitude from your friend Hope
