It Is Time To Worry!
A few weeks ago I wrote a blog about rumination–which is continuously thinking the same thoughts over and over again all through the day and night. Dwelling on the same problems causes more agitation not less. It increases our sense of distress and anxiety and it does not solve anything. I suggested we stop ruminating and do other things to stop this counterproductive approach to worrying.
One thing we can do is to set aside a thirty minute period of time to worry! In that period of time give yourself permission to worry about your problems. Do nothing but worry in that time frame and then the moment your worry time is over, stop worrying! You have worried enough!
Worry at the same time of day and get it over! Start your ‘worry time’ with prayer to the Lord to help you find a solution to your problem. After you have prayer, start your worrying about how to solve your problem. You might try to worry in the same place every day. When you leave your worry place, leave it and do something else and do not let your mind wander back to your “worry hole.”!
When you are in your worry period, try to start a plan to find a helpful solution to your problem. If you are worried about financial insecurity, you might start looking for other ways to make extra money.
You could write down your worries and write possible solutions to overcome your problems. You could also try to do research on the computer to find possible solutions for your problem.
As soon as your thirty minute ‘worry period’ is over, turn off all thought about your worries. You have done your day’s worrying! Now go on to something else and enjoy the rest of your day! Finish your worrying time with prayer. Ask the Dear Lord to solve your problem and help you to give it over to Him and let it remain with Him! Amen! The rest of the day do not worry!

I will try your worry solution. I give my worries to God and then pick them up and give God ans. I know better so I will practice your routine. Love your friend M.
