Today, August 25, 2021, has been quite a day for me. Last Saturday I learned a friend had just tested positive for Covid-19. I was encouraged to take the Covid-19 test to see if I had caught it from my friend. Today at 1:30p.m. I was administered the test and before 2 p.m. the results had been analyzed. I, too, have Covid-19! To say I was astonished is an understatement. I have no symptoms. I have a normal temperature and I feel well! But I have Covid-19!

I am ashamed to tell you what my first reaction to the news was. I felt very alone! Alone with Covid-19! Alone with a killer. Alone with the virus that has literally transformed our world! And then all of a sudden I came to my senses! I was not alone with Covid-19! I couldn’t be alone ever because I have my Lord and Savior with me at all times! Jesus said, “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee,” (Hebrews ). Being alone is impossible because Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is with each of His followers all the time. Every minute of every day of every year throughout eternity! What a wonderful assurance.

I have to remain in quarantine the next ten days. I have decided to use this time for reflection. I want to reflect with you, my Dear Readers, what we can learn from a time of quarantine and a time of spiritual growth and contemplation. I hope you, my Dear Friends and Readers will join me on this season of contemplation and reflection. Will you join me the next ten days on an inner pilgrimage to see what we can learn as we mentally isolate ourselves from the world and seek the Divine Peace that Jesus alone can give us?

Until tomorrow, I remain your faithful and loving friend Hope
